When James Gandolfini designed the original Seal, he had a hunch that this watch would become iconic. After inspecting the first prototype, he said "you should make this part of your regular line. I think it's a winner." Michael Kobold didn't share his friend's enthusiasm for the bulky, oversized watch. James Gandolfini doubled down on his request that the Seal go into serial production: "Build it, my German friend, this watch will sell. I will do an ad campaign to help you promote it."

The rest, as they say, is history. James Gandolfini did end up appearing in a full-page, nationwide advertising campaign in which he extended his middle finger in the direction of the camera. The campaign's slogan: "Even James Gandolfini Thinks Kobold Is Number 1." Since then, thousands of Kobold Seals have been built, making it the #1 bestselling Kobold timepiece.

Today, Kobold is proud to unveil a very special version of this iconic watch: The Kobold Seal 25th Anniversary Edition. Its Soarway case is fashioned from Grade 5 aerospace-grade titanium. An extra thick sapphire crystal protects the meteorite dial emblazoned with the name of the Seal's creator.
