“If you fly into Geneva airport, you see all these watch ads. [Kobold] has to try very hard to make [its] watches stand out. And with the Everest watch, [it] did just that.” -Sir Ranulph Fiennes, explorer

Kobold Himalaya Everest Edition

A Watch with a Story

Few watches are true conversation pieces. The Himalaya is one such watch. Its dial is made from rock collected just below the summit of Mount Everest.

The Himalaya Everest Edition is unfortunately sold out. However, we felt that this particular model was too special to simply relegate to our growing museum of retired Kobold watches. In order to fit the rather thick piece of Everest rock onto the dial plate, we had to subcontract the steps of cutting, slicing and

grinding the pieces of rock to a German firm specializing in this work. The guys in Germany had a tough time figuring out how to get the job done. After all, they had never worked with stones such as these. After almost two years, we finally held the first Everest dial in our hands. The result was amazing and our customers agreed. The edition of 25 watches was sold out in no time at all.
