Consider this watch a recruitment tool of the United States Navy.
Our ties to the SEAL community go back to the company's early beginnings and over the course of the past 17 years have become much stronger. Today, we honor our amphibian friends by unveiling a watch that is made just for them. The NEC 5326 is not the first Kobold that is unavailable to civilians, but it is the first watch made exclusively for Navy SEALs. Its main feature is the renowned Soarway case, a tiny time vault that has proven itself downrange on countless occasions. For the first time in Kobold's history, the movement is not mechanical but instead a Swiss-made quartz caliber which indicates both local and Zulu time as well as the date. As the premier U.S. maker of professional-grade tool watches, we wanted to ensure that our quartz watch would be at least as rugged as our mechanical watches. We spent years researching and prototyping the NEC 5326 and built dozens of watches fitted with an array of quartz calibers before finally settling on a rugged and accurate movement by Swiss maker Ronda. Fitted with a specially made lithium battery, the movement reliably works in sub-zero temperatures as well as in the heat of the desert. A civilian version of the NEC 5326, complete with a bright orange GMT hand, is available on request. The NEC 5326 arrives on Kobold's canvas Expedition strap. 3-year warranty.
