Kobold Seal Prototype

(2004-2013) Thanks to its massive, unique proportions and its overall ruggedness, the Seal has achieved cult status among collectors. Made to withstand water pressure of up to 100 bar (=1000 meters/3300 feet) and equipped with a soft iron core to protect the movement against the effects of magnetism experienced when diving through the hull of a sunken vessel. To further protect the movement, a secondary shock absorber was integrated into the case. The Seal was designed by the late actor James Gandolfini and produced in an open series. Mr. Gandolfini and the Seal proudly appeared in a series of advertisements that ran in The Economist and several watch trade journals. Unitl its retirement following Mr. Gandolfini's death in 2013, the Seal was the best-selling Kobold watch. Over the years, several copies of the Seal have come out of China. This particular prototype (No. 001) was owned by Mr. Gandolfini who later presented it to a former head of state. Stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, uni-directional rotating bezel, ETA 2824 / ETA 2893 / Enicar 164 movements.
