Kobold Polar Surveyor Chronograph Prototype

(2002) The original prototype of Kobold's legendary Polar Surveyor Chronograph. This explorer's tool watch was created by Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Chronoswiss-founder and master watchmaker Gerd-R. Lang and Michael Kobold. Worn during Sir Ranulph's epic attempt to run 7 marathons in as many days on all continents, as well as on expeditions to the summit of Mount Everest in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The original protoype's Soarway case was made on Kobold Germany's CNC machines. The production cases were later outsourced to companies in Germany, Switzerland and the United States. The original prototype has a 24-hour indicator at 9 o'clock. Due to legibility issues, this function was removed in later editions of the Polar Surveyor Chronograph.
