Charity Initiatives
Celebrity Watches for Charity
At Kobold, we believe in building relationships and friendships with our clients. Our unique approach to customer service enables us to foster friendships with a number of high-profile personalities who purchase our watches.
The Celebrity Watches for Charity initiative builds on those relationships. Every year, we ask a famous client to donate his or her watch to the annual Celebrity Watches for Charity Auction, which is organized by premium online auctioneer, CharityFolks.com.
Past beneficiaries of the Celebrity Watches for Charity initiative have been:
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
Childrens has been treating the most seriously ill and injured children in Los Angeles for more than a century, and is acknowledged throughout the United States and around the world for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health.
Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding
The Tanenbaum Center has earned a global reputation for promoting tolerance and harmony among people of different faiths. Its efforts are directed towards defusing verbal and physical violence perpetrated in the name of religion and stand under the patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. United Services Organization The USO's mission is to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to the men and women of the United States military. The enduring style of USO delivery is to represent the American people by extending a touch of home to the military.
Young Explorers Program
Kobold also sponsors students who display an interest in the fields of exploration and scientific research. In 2002, the Cambridge Greenland Glaciology Expedition was made possible by our financial sponsorship. The expedition consisted of five undergraduate university students with ambitions to become polar explorers.
In 2005, our support of the British Schools Exploring Society enabled 48 students, aged 16-20 years, to explore the rugged terrain south of the North Pole. On behalf of the beneficiaries of our charity initiatives, we wish to sincerely thank our loyal clients for enabling us to make these charitable contributions.
In 2007, Kobold sponsored several expeditions with a focus on bringing the Arctic and Antarctic experience to classrooms around the United States in an effort to both educate young children about the effects of global warming on the polar regions as well as to motivate them to pursue a career in polar exploration and conservation.
Embrace Earth Awareness Campaign
While experts argue about the real and imagined effects of global warming, Kobold explorers and brand ambassadors are reporting drastic changes in the polar environment. With temperatures rising every season, the Arctic's pack ice -once frozen solid for miles on end- is turning into slush, thereby making navigation difficult if not impossible.
Embrace Earth is Kobold's campaign to promote scientific, fact-based awareness about the effects of global warming and industrial pollution. The goal is to motivate individuals to actively partake in the efforts to curb CO2 emissions. Embrace Earth is made possible by Kobold's committment to invest 1% of sales into an environmental responsibility campaign. The campaign stars internationally-acclaimed film and television actor James Gandolfini, explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, mountaineer Kenton Cool, and deep sea diver Philippe Cousteau.
